A senior company official said that since the BS-VI emission standard went into effect on April 1, G Motor India plans to increase production of its SUV Hector by about 30%.
The company released the ZS EV last week, while taking into account its strong response to its all Latest electric SUV, it will also review plans for electric vehicles (EVs) below Rs 1 million.
MG Motor India president and MD Rajeev Chaba told PTI: “In the case of MG Hector, we are planning to increase the speed further and hope to achieve it in two to three months.”
The company’s Hector, India’s first model, received a good response and retailed 3021 units in December 2019. Since its launch in July 2019, the automaker has recorded total Hector sales of 15,930 units.
“At the moment, we are focusing on a smooth transition from BS-IV to BS-VI in terms of dealer inventory. Based on the next two months, we will make a decision, but we think we can do about 3500 to 4,000 per month (Unit) Hector., “He said.
Chaba said that there will be some blows in the first quarter due to stock adjustments. He added, “But from April to May, it can increase to 3,500 to 4,000 per month.”
The company is currently producing approximately 3,000 Hectors at its Halol plant.
MG Motor India plans to obtain more than 2,800 orders for the ZS EV, far exceeding its expectations, and is considering increasing its production from the current 200 per month to 300 or 400 per month in three or four months.
When asked about the company’s strong response to the MG ZS EV, the company’s electric vehicle plans with prices below Rs 1 million, Chaba said, “It’s also an interesting development now.”
“I think we will seriously review the shape, size, range and price needed for the next generation of latest electric cars,” he added, “there will be a concept at the upcoming auto expo, but we will base it on consumers’ Respond. “
He detailed the process behind it, saying: “An EV with less than 1 million rupees must be of interest to millennials, it must be a very lifestyle EV. Therefore, it is not a normal mainstream design. He added “It will be different, and we will determine the plan after the auto expo based on the response. “
